"[He] not only helped boost our daughter's SAT scores very substantially, he boosted her confidence, and made the whole process actually enjoyable... zeroed in precisely on the areas in which she needed work... Laura wound up getting into the top college of her choice." - Helena Rozier, parent of an AlphaPrep student
Josh Lippman not only helped boost our daughter's SAT scores very substantially, he boosted her confidence, and made the whole process actually enjoyable (well OK, maybe not taking the actual test-taking). He zeroed in precisely on the areas in which she needed work, so time and money weren't wasted on what she already knew and could do. He provided strategies for test taking, practice tests, and advice on skill-building. Altogether Josh's approach was far more efficient, constructive and rewarding than taking a group class would have been. And Laura wound up getting into the top college of her choice. My best friend sent us to Josh, telling us he was the best, and we heartily agree!

"My son had one word to describe both Josh and AlphaPrep - "AWESOME!". AlphaPrep boosted our son's test taking confidence and was instrumental in his realizing his full potential. His test scores were as high as he had hoped."
-Noelle Perlen, parent of an AlphaPrep student
We were extremely fortunate to have used AlphaPrep for all of our son's SAT preparations. He bonded immediately with his tutor, Josh, and had infinite respect for his intelligence. My son had one word to describe both Josh and AlphaPrep - "AWESOME!" AlphaPrep boosted our son's test taking confidence and was instrumental in his realizing his full potential. His test scores were as high as he had hoped. In addition, Chase had such a great time working with Josh and actually looked forward to each session. Overall, Josh made grandiose scores attainable. AlphaPrep helped Chase to achieve the next of his academic objectives - getting into an Ivy League college!
-Noelle Perlen, parent of an AlphaPrep student
"After he took the test, he knew he "owned" it."
-Judy Straight, parent of an AlphaPrep student.
With Alpha Prep we got an individual assessment of Zach's needs, a program tailored to meet those needs, and most of all a confidence building relationship with Josh that allowed Zach to go beyond what he thought he could do and really excel and "own" the SAT's. After he took the test, he knew he "owned" it. Thank you Josh for your preparation and inspiration.
-Judy Straight, parent of an AlphaPrep student.
"...After only four intense two-hour sessions with Josh, I was able to raise my score a whopping 500 points..."
-Derek Alexander, AlphaPrep student
When I first took the AlphaPrep practice SAT in January, I knew I needed to hit the books, but after only four intense two-hour sessions with Josh, I was able to raise my score a whopping 500 points on the real SAT! AlphaPrep can always meet your schedule and needs, and the practice routines really work.

"...Encouraging style helped make what should have been a chore far more pleasant... Each of the boys increased their scores on each section by an average of atleast 100 points." - Roberta Conroy, parent of four AlphaPrep studentsDear Josh,
My husband and I wanted to thank you for the outstanding job you did with our four sons with your SAT prep program.
All four of our boys have different strengths and learning styles. You did a great job tailoring their sessions to address their weaknesses and strengths and maximized their understanding of the material. Your easygoing, encouraging style helped make what should have been a chore far more pleasant. They never once complained about tutoring and were always happy to attend a session with you.
Most important, you really delivered. Each of the boys increased their scores on each section by an average of at least 100 points. One of the boys earned a 12 on the Essay. One raised his total score by more than 500 points, including having received a true 800 in the Math section.
Again, thank you for all of your help. You are the best.
Sincerely, Roberta Conroy, mother of four AlphaPrep students
"AlphaPrep helped more than I ever would have imagined... I raised my score from 1900 to 2010 in just a month and a half of tutoring... I was always getting better - and what's more, I wanted to get better."
-Will McCarthy, AlphaPrep Student
AlphaPrep helped more than I ever would have imagined. That sounds like such a cliche way to begin a testimony, but honestly that's the first thing that comes to mind when I think about my tutoring experience. I could trumpet the efficiency of Alpha Prep just based on cold, hard facts; I raised my score from 1900 to 2010 in just a month and a half of tutoring, I got a perfect 12/12 on the Essay section, and more importantly I got into my first choice college Early Decision. But truthfully, the real reason I think Mr.Lippman's tutoring is so incredibly effective and worthwhile isn't just because that my score went up, it's how my score went up. And that happened through simple motivation.
What makes Mr.Lippman's Alpha Prep so valuable is his uncanny ability to connect with kids in such a way that they become self motivated. Let's face it, no matter how many times the parents tell their kids that the SAT's are important, it's still up to the kid to motivate him or herself to put forth a real effort. In the end they are the ones taking the test. And trust me, I know this is true, I'm a kid.
Mr.Lippman wasted no time dawdling over topics or types of questions I already knew I was good at. Instead, in the first hour of the first tutoring session he figured out where my strengths lay and precisely what my weaknesses were. We immediately established a plan and through his guidance I knew EXACTLY what to focus on, and when to focus on it. In short, I never wasted my time. I was always getting better - and what's more, I wanted to get better. I know the same thing will happen to you.
-Will McCarthy, AlphaPrep Student
"He made my daughter feel as if she were the most important and the only student he had... I never would have expected that my daughter would raise her scores by such a large percentage." - ElizaBeth Einiger, parent of an AlphaPrep student"OH MOM, I just wanted to tell you that Mr. Lippman is coming over at 11."
"Tomorrow morning?" I was confused.
"NO MOM" she shouted, "Tonight! I have school tomorrow." As if a teacher coming over at 11 pm is normal.
"I have no time during the day and in the evening I have dance. I have to study for my SAT's and I have NO time. Mr. Lippman found this time for me." I just nodded my head and remembered that next year she would be on her own and this was the way to get her there.
I had known Josh Lippman for a while now but his almost heroic, noble efforts put him in "Superman" status in all of our books. He continually outdid himself. He made my daughter feel as if she were the most important and the only student he had. He is outstanding in his dedication to each and every individual. Add to that the brilliance of how he motivates these kids to keep on going during a potentially traumatic time in their lives, he further earns heroic status. He is joyful in his endeavor and it's contagious, even at midnight. He consistently goes beyond the call of duty with everyone. I often reflected and wondered how he did it (then I remembered he was Superman). And if who he is and his work ethic weren t enough, what he actually produces in terms of results is even harder to believe. It is magical. I never would have expected that my daughter would raise her scores by such a large percentage. In addition she was able to walk into the actual tests with confidence. Josh Lippman simply almost mystically made this a much less arduous process than it would be. I don't know if it is how he teaches or what he teaches that yields his success but I suspect it is both and it works. It is unfortunate that our society dictates that our kids must compete in this way, but given that we can't change the system and this is the process most all of the schools use to weed out the kids on paper, it is a necessary evil. So if you can't beat 'em, you might as well join them and if ever anyone created a fairy tale to come true within this system it is Mr. Lippman.
Having interviewed for years for the University of Pennsylvania and having helped my own two children to matriculate to enviable schools, my daughter would never have been able to get a foot in the door without this miracle of a person standing behind her in every way. He undeniably has a passion that is catching, a knowledge that is unerring and a technique that is not easily come by and hard, if not impossible to duplicate. Through his generosity of giving with his passion and process of teaching, he has given my daughter a gift of a lifetime that is priceless for her future. He is more than a tutor of a test; he has created a path for her accomplished entry to the brave new adult world. - ElizaBeth Einiger, parent of an AlphaPrep student
"...enthusiasm and brilliant teaching techniques helped to raise my scores high enough to land me an acceptance at my top college choice... I could not have asked for a better experience." -Benjamin Andrews, AlphaPrep student"Mr. Lippman was able to give me an enjoyable and successful ACT preparation experience. After meeting with him only a few times, he was easily able to teach me the necessary fundamentals to acing the ACTs. His enthusiasm and brilliant teaching techniques helped to raise my scores high enough to land me an acceptance at my top college choice. Unlike most tutors I have had in the past, I looked forward to meeting with Mr. Lippman, for his humor, high energy, and positive attitudes made the entire ACT process easy and enjoyable. I could not have asked for a better experience."
-Benjamin Andrews, AlphaPrep student
"Within one tutoring session, he had "read" my child and adapted his teaching style to fit... Learned more advanced algebra in 6 summer weeks than in 38 school year weeks... I just can't see how our experience could have been better."
-Wendy Batteau, parent of an AlphaPrep studentBy the end of the last school year, I was not just at the end of my rope I was at the end of the little bits of frayed fibers of what used to be my rope. To my child I had become "the homework witch", but as for me, I was demoralized, questioning what I knew and thinking (well, almost) about buying a plane ticket every time I saw an ad. Or another homework assignment posted on the school web site.
I knew that my child had excellent math aptitude, didn't I? All the standardized tests said so. The teachers of the "gifted" classes said so. But the regular teachers didn't say so. They said, "No homework handed in. No effort. No class participation. Test grades unacceptable." They said it a lot. I tried everything to reverse the trend. Really, everything, including a variety of tutors. Tension, yelling and door-slamming ensued.
The following sentence should be accompanied by the "Zarathrustra" song. Then we found Josh Lippman. A friend whose family had also suffered torture by high-school- math-teachers until her child took a class with Josh, recommended him to me. After much pleading to be able to be included in his schedule, our life turned around. If Josh were some kind of technology, he'd probably clear up global pollution in a couple of months. If he were a superhero, he'd be able to look into a person and then communicate his knowledge into that person's mind. Wait a minute that's just what he did. Within one tutoring session, he had "read" my child and adapted his teaching style to fit. He got my child's personality, established personal connections, figured out learning style and needs, and discovered information gaps that were getting in the way. He taught both concepts and processes and showed how they were connected, and how they could be used. He did this all with such personality, energy, enthusiasm and humor that my child learned it all. Learned it gladly. Studied it outside of tutoring sessions without my having to say a word. Showed me some of the "cool stuff" they did. Looked forward to math sessions. LIKED THEM! Learned more advanced algebra in 6 summer weeks than in 38 school year weeks. Inspired my child. Is a role model.
Do I sound too enthusiastic? If you've ever been in the position of being a parent feeling a wedge driven between you and your teenager (just at the time when communication is hard enough anyway), a parent who worried about a child's potential future options; a parent questioning whether everything you always knew about your child was wrong, then you will understand that I am perhaps not sounding enthusiastic enough. Josh taught my child and at least as important, he made a strong contribution to giving us our "us" back.
I just can't see how our experience could have been better.

"...transcended the boundaries of 'teacher - student' and fast became 'mentor - friend'."
-Kristen and Amer Nimr, parents of an AlphaPrep studentWe started working with Josh Lippman six weeks before our son was to take the PSAT for the second time. He had no formal tutoring before and his first scores were mediocre. We were curious to see how individualized attention would help him to focus on learning for the sake of enjoyment, not learning to "take" a test. Josh transcended the boundaries of "teacher - student" and fast became "mentor - friend". Our son looked forward to the hours working with him and with his help his PSAT scores went up 30 National percentile points. We couldn't believe it!
-Kristen and Amer Nimr, parents of an AlphaPrep student
"...made what once seemed such an onerous task into a great pleasure... I couldn't be more pleased with how it all ended up."
-Chase Perlen, AlphaPrep studentAlpha prep was instrumental in my success on the SATs. Its scope extended beyond that of any other tutoring services; it not only taught me the knowledge I needed to score highly, but also how to take the test. I achieved such an understanding of how the test is designed that I literally, as Josh always says, owned it to the tune of a 2290. Josh himself was phenomenal. He made what once seemed such an onerous task into a great pleasure. I, like many others, viewed studying with Josh as simply hanging out with a buddy, albeit in a productive manner. Honestly, I couldn't be more pleased with how it all ended up; a great score, acceptance to my top choice college, the University of Pennsylvania, and a true friend. What more can you ask from a tutoring service!
